Craig and I spent a couple of sunny days in Michigan celebrating our 15th anniversary. We started in Grand Rapids at an incredible Brandi Carlisle show, stayed the night, and spent the next day driving down the coast of Lake Michigan antiquing, eating, and walking on the beach. I really missed the kids but it sure was nice to have some quiet alone time with my husband. We came home with some great finds (a canoe paddle, a large metal basket, and an old wooden dart board we want to make into a side table) and also decided that this is something that we should do once a year.
One lovely camomile flower in my lavender patch. I think I’ll make something in the kitchen with my lavender tomorrow.
When I was in my 20’s and living in Chicago, there was a warm summer day when I sat on my front porch with time on my hands, a book, and a bowl of cherries. I remember enjoying the bliss of such a luxury as I ate each one. I don’t recall the book I read, but I’m reminded of the sweetness of that afternoon whenever I buy a bunch of beautiful cherries.
Some moments my boys remind me of their younger selves instead of the men they are growing to be.
I’m glad I get to hold on a little while longer.
All it takes to brighten my trip to the grocery store is to walk out with a handful of pink peonies!
